Special Hugs For You

Today I have a friendship card created using a combination of the A Way With Words die sets and a rubber stamp.  I love the way we can combine die sets and or stamp sets to create a variety of sentiments.   Do you mix and match your dies to come up with fun sentiments?

I used four different A Way With Words die sets along with one stamp from a set of five.

Use the Special die from this A Way With Words die set.

Use the A Way With Words Sending Hugs Kisses die set to die cut the sentiment Hugs.

Use the  A Way With Words Forever die set to die cut the Forever sentiment.  Since only the word FOR is needed, carefully trim off the ever and flourishes along the bottom, with scissors, as shown on the card.

Use the A Way With Words Wishing You A die set to die cut the you.

Use the Thanks Cuddler Set of 7 stamp set and use the for being my friend stamp to white emboss under the white die cut sentiments.

The die cut on the lower left of the card is the Lovebirds die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Small flowers from the CountryScapes Clematis-Ivy set was die cut and attached to the branches

I hope you have fun looking for new sentiments you can create by combining dies from different sets.

Elizabeth Craft Designs will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, March 24 on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

For my card I used the Spring Blooms Stamp set and matching dies for the flowers.

This is a 6-inch card.  The basic card is Vellum cardstock.  When the card is finished, the top portion of the card is clear, so you can see the design paper on the inside of the card.  For the bottom section, a 6-inch piece of white card stock was used. In the center, I taped down one of the smaller Dotted Scallop Circle dies.  This piece of card stock was placed on the die cutting plate, with the bottom portion was hanging off.  It was placed so it would die cut at an angle.  Half the Circle will be die cut.  The paper cutter was used to cut off the top portion of the card right up to the edge of the die cut circle -- or you can use scissors or a craft knife to cut a straight line just up to the die cut Circle edge.  See card for the angle.

I wanted a design on the bottom portion of the white card stock.  I used the Dancing Leaves embossing folder and placed the card inside the embossing folder, making sure the die cut circle was outside the edge of the folder.  It was run through the die cutting machine.  To finish off the cut edge on each side of the circle, I added one of the die cut chains using one of the chain dies from the Chains 1 die set.  It was glued to the edge.  This piece was attached to the bottom of the front of the Vellum card, attaching only the part below the Circle.  You are attaching this to Vellum and you don't want to see the adhesive behind the circle.  When you open the card, you will be able to see the tape, or glue, used to attach the white piece to the Vellum front.  Place a piece of white card stock across the diagonal piece, trim to fit, and attach to the inside of the card so the adhesive does not show.  This step gives you a nice finished appearance.

Using the Spring Bloom Clear Stamp Set, stamp the large flower and three of the smaller flowers on watercolor paper, using VersaMark ink.  White emboss.  Color with watercolors or markers.  Die cut the flowers with matching dies.  Use the Dandelion Fluff Die Set and die cut three to attach behind the large die cut flower.

On the inside of the card, attach a piece of design paper over the Vellum.  The design will show through on the front of the card when the card is closed.

Use the Els van de Burgt Studio Small Butterfly set to die cut the butterfly.  I used Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the the card stock and die cut the top of the butterfly on top of the cardstock so I could add Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.   I used the same pink ink as used on the flower to color the solid portion of the butterfly.  Assemble the butterfly and attach to the lower right side of the card.

Use the General Sentiments Clear Stamp set to stamp the sentiment.  Die cut the sentiment using one of the Stitched Fishtail Banners.  Attach to the lower left side of the card.

Let's Have Some Fun

It is always fun to spend a day out shopping with a friend.  Today I have created a card using the new Row Houses Clear Stamp Set to create a shopping scene.  Here is how the card was created.
Use permanent black ink and the Row Houses Clear Stamps Set to stamp all of the images onto white cardstock.  Color with either markers or watercolors of your choice.  Die cut the images, using the matching Row Houses Die Set.

Die cut white cardstock and a piece of craft foam with the largest Stitched Ovals die. Craft foam is optional and will add dimension to the oval frame. (Refer to the project photo.)

Use the second- and third-largest Stitched Ovals dies to cut a narrow black frame that will be placed inside the white oval.

Use the Outdoor Edges die set to cut three different pieces of white cardstock to use for the grassy hills. These need to be long enough to fit behind the oval opening. Color with green watercolors or markers. Glue the pieces together, overlapping slightly, so they will cover approximately 2/3 of the bottom of the oval.  Attach a piece of light blue card stock for the sky.

Use the Rainbow Sky die set to cut two white cardstock clouds.

Use the Corners 1 die set to cut 4 black cardstock corners.

Using black ink and a sentiment from the Winter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set stamp the sentiment. Die cut the sentiment using the Stitched Fishtail Banners die that most closely fits around the words.
You now have all the pieces to complete this little scene.

Attach the sky/grass piece to the back of the large white oval frame, using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  (If you have used a layer of craft foam to create a dimensional frame, the Clear Double Sided Adhesive will hold cardstock to it very well.)

Arrange the buildings, trees, table and chair pieces on the green portion inside the oval frame.  Use Beacon Kids Choice Glue and/or foam tape to attach them.

Apply glue to the back of the narrow black oval frame and push it down inside the foam layer of the oval frame as a finishing touch.

Adhere the Stitched Banner at an angle across the upper left.  Trim off the excess portion of the banner at the edge of the white rectangle.

Adhere the four black corners.

Adhere the framed picture to a black cardstock side-fold card base. If using Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock, the inside of the card will be white. If using other black cardstock for the card base, add a white rectangle inside the card for writing a personal message, or write with a white opaque ink pen.

Always be my Friend

Hello Friends!  This month the designers on the Quietfire Design Team are celebrating Friendship. I designed a card using the Always Be My Friend stamp set.

Always Be My Friend, Set of 3 Stamps - Mounted

The Always Be My Friend stamp set is one I am sure you will love to have in your  'Friend' stamp collection.

For my card I used a 6-inch card and layered a piece of white card stock on front that is 5 1/2 inches square.  I used a score board to score around the edges to give it a finished appearance

A light blue card stock was die cut using the Dotted Scalloped Square die set, then a piece of design paper was die cut using one of the dies in the Fitted Frame die set.  A corner rounder was used to round off the corners.  These two pieces were attached to the front of the card.

A dimensional frame was die cut using Dotted Scalloped Square die set to die cut the small blue frame and a slightly smaller die from the Stitched Frame die set was die cut using white card stock.  Using the same small Stitched Frame die, two fun foam squares were die cut and attached to the back of the small blue and white frame, to give it dimension.

The Always Be My Friend sentiment was stamped in the center of the small white frame, using VersaFine Black Ink then was clear embossed.

The design paper used has some small blue flowers in the design.  I used the Garden Notes Hydrangea die set to die cut a bunch of small blue flowers.  They were shaped with the Flower Tool Kit and one yellow Prill was added to the center.  The little leaves were die cut using the Leafy Branch 2 die set.  Individual leaves were cut off and tucked under the flowers.  They were attached to the card as shown.
