No Winter Lasts Forever

Good Morning. I am so happy warm weather has finally arrived.  We have had a lot of cool, rainy days! Yards are now in full bloom with so many beautiful flowers.

The large flower on this card was created using Susan's Garden Notes Lily die set.  I used Viva 3D-Stempel-Farbe paint to sponge color on the petals.  I blended Gold, Copper and Lava Red paints, using the lightest color on the ends of each petal.  The little flowers were created with the Chrysanthemum dies from Susan's Garden Patch 1 inch & Mini Daisy & Chrysanthemum dies.

The small leaves were die cut using the Els van de Burgt Studio Leafy Branch die.  Susan's Flower Tool Kit was used to shape each leaf. The butterflies and dragonfly were die cut using Susan's Garden Notes Bugs & Butterflies die set.  I used the Viva paint to color the dragonfly.

I love all the different frame dies that are in the Els van de Burgt Studio collection!  For the white frame I created today, I used the Dotted Scallop Rectangles and Fitted Frames 1 Lace Rectangles die sets.  It is so fun to be creative and see how many different looks you can achieve by using dies from the different frame sets, because they all coordinate together.  I first die cut the Dotted Scallop Rectangle, then used Susan's Pan Pastels to sponge on light blue, leaving the scallops white.  Then the two Fitted Frames were glued on. The sentiment is one of Susan's Seeds of Thoughts Rubber Stamps.  It was stamped using VersaFine Black Ink.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I used a piece of the Through The Lens: Stone Series  cardstock for the background.  The white frame was attached using dimensional tape, then all other die cuts were attached with glue dots.  To finish the card, four white pearls were added to the frame.

Happy Birthday Cake PopUp

Today I wanted to design a "Fun" card for a birthday.  What better way than to use one of Karen Burniston's PopUp card die sets.  I used her Cake Pop Up die set on the inside of the card.

On the front of the card,  I used Karen's Props 7 die set for the cute little basket of flowers; there are a few Leafy Branch leaves behind the flowers. For the gingham background, I used Karen's  Pull Card Edges die set.   Since this is a big  birthday wish for a special person, the large die cut A Way With Words - happy birthday was perfect for the front.   Els van de Burgt Corners 1 die set was used to die cut the two corners at the bottom of the card.

Cake Pop Up

On the inside of the card, I watched Karen's Cake Popup YouTube Video for construction.  You can watch the video at this LINK.  My card was designed basically the same using design paper I had in my stash.

This shows the inside of the card when opened.  I know you will have fun creating this cute PopUp card.  Karen's instructions on the video are VERY easy to follow.  You can decorate the card anyway you want.  I hope you will give it a try!

Summertime

Good Morning.  This is the card I designed for my design team post at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I love summertime and all the beautiful flowers. Since this is the first day of Summer,  I have a yard scene created using Susan's  CountryScapes Nantucket Arbor & Picket Fence dies with flowers along the fence.  The pink flowers were created with Susan's new Garden Edges Rose Hedge dies.

The tall purple flowers were created using the flower dies from Susan's new CountryScapes Wisteria Vine.  Branches (shown in middle of this photo) were die cut using the Els van de Burgt Flourishes & Branches die set.  For the leaves, one Leafy Branch was die cut.  The leaves were shaped using Susan's Flower Tool Kit before each leaf was cut off the stems. The little purple flowers were shaped with the small ball stylus from Susan's Tool Kit, then glued on the top portion of the branches.  I have used two shades of purple card stock for the flowers to give the flower texture.  The flowers were glued half way down each branch, then single leaves  added to the stem.

The dog was die cut from Susan's CountryScapes Critters 3 die set.  The color was sponged on.  Four yellow butterflies were die cut using the smallest butterfly in the Garden Notes Bugs & Butterflies die set.  Two clouds from Joset Design Rainbow Sky die set were attached on the right side.  The A Way With Words "Summer" die cut was added to the left side.

You can check out my post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog and will find links to all the products used.

God Gave Us Memory

It won't be long until we start collecting the dies and stamps we need to use for our Holiday cards.  I love working with the stamps and dies designed by Suzanne Cannon from Quietfire Creations.

4 Seasons, Set of 4 - Metal Cutting Dies

This is a picture of the new A Way With Words - 4 Seasons die set.  I used the Winter die from this set, for this card; it was die cut using black card stock.
God Gave Us Memory - Mounted
This is the Quietfire Design "God Gave Us Memory" rubber stamp.  The sentiment was stamped, using black VersaVine ink, on the upper right corner of a piece of design paper.

The flower was created using Susan's Garden Notes Rose 1 die set.  Under the Rose, I added pieces of a gunny sack type ribbon and shredded the ends.  On top of the ribbon, Pine Boughs were added; these were die cut using Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Bough & Pinecone die set.  Both die sets are available from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  To create a Winter type card, Faber Castell Whipped Spackle was added to the Pine Boughs.  Glue was dropped around the spackle, the rose leaves and on some of the rose petals, then Ranger Distress Stickles - Clear Rock Candy Dry Glitter was sprinkled on.

This card will be perfect for someone with a Winter birthday!

Have A Splashing Day

Joset really puts us in the mood to visit the beach this summer.  I love working with all her new beach themed die sets  She now also has new Clear Stamps to add fun sentiments.

Turtle

This card was created using the Joset Designs Turtle die set.  It is fun to play in the water with a partner, so I created two turtles playing together.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I used the new Beaded Circle Frames die set for the circle in the background.  The corners were die cut using the Corners 1 die set.

To make it realistic, I used Joset's Seaweed die set to die cut the Coral, Seaweed, and Sand.  They were all die cut using Soft Finish Cardstock and color sponged on.  I added small dots, with a marker, to the Coral to make it realistic looking.

Watching all this fun is the crab, die cut from Joset's Shells Large die set.  He was attached using dimensional glue dots, observing from behind the Seaweed.

To finish the card, I used Joset Designs new Ahoy Sentiments Clear Stamp set.

I think I want to go to the beach and have some fun too!

You're So Sweet

This is the time of year when we see a lot of pansies.  Today I have designed a card using Susan's Garden Notes Pansy dies with her new Garden Notes Bouquet Stems & Branches dies.  The Pansies were die cut using a Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock.  A wine colored marker was used to draw the lines from the center of each petal, except the two petals that are at the top.  Susan's PanPastels were used to add hot pink color to the center of each petal then Susan's White PanPastel was brushed around the outside edge of each petal, to lighten the tips.  I love using PanPastels because they are opaque and cover well.  If you don't like the color where you have added it, you can easily use an eraser to remove any unwanted color.  Adding the PanPastel really added "texture" to each petal.

Prills - Bloomy Day
Once the flowers were created, I added a few Yellow Prills from Susan's new Bloomy Day Prills collection.  These Pansies look so realistic!

I wanted to create a 5"x7" card, so I used Els van de Burgt Studio Dotted Scallop Rectangle and Stitched Rectangles dies to create a delicate frame.  The center Stitched Rectangle was embossed using the Swirly Curves Embossing Folder.   All die cut frames were attached using dimensional tape between layers.   Along the edges of the card, one of Els new Bead Strings 2 dies was used for the outside border along the green gingham design paper.

Garden Notes Bouquet Stems & Branches

To create the Pansy bouquet, the stems were die cut using the new Garden Notes Bouquet Stems & Branches die set.  The bow, to hold the Bouquet together, was die cut from the Garden Notes Lavender die set.

The stems were attached, at an angle, to the embossed frame, at the lower right hand corner, then the Pansies attached, using glue dots.  The leaves were glued behind the flowers.

To finish the card, the (perfect) sentiment from Joset Designs General Sentiments Clear Stamp set, was stamped on white cardstock, using VersaFine Black Ink. I used scissors to cut closely around the stamped image.  It was glued to the frame.

It's A Birthday Party

We have a lot of birthdays during the summer.  Joset Designs Lollypop dies, along with two of the A Way With Words sentiment die sets created a fun birthday party invitation.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  The Lollypop die set was used to cut four different colors of Lollypops and white card stock was used to die cut the overlay, sticks and bows.  The pieces were glued together.

The A Way With Words - Happy Birthday die and It's a Party dies were used for the sentiment.  The "Happy" was cut off the Happy Birthday die cut. There are several A Way With Words Happy Birthday die sets, but this one was chosen because the lettering matched the It's A Party die cut.

The It's A Birthday Party die cut were first glued to the front of the card, leaving space around the words to add the Lollypops.  The Lollypops were attached with glue dots .  Glitter was added to the words and Lollypop bows.  Also, the design paper has some little stars in the design, and glitter was added to them.

Lavender

Good Morning.  I just purchased a large flower pot of lavender for my deck, which was my inspiration for this card.

I have posted two cards to show you how a couple of extra die cuts can change the feeling about a card. Which card do you like best?

In Susan's new Spring Release at Elizabeth Craft Designs, she has included the die set  Garden Notes Lavender.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I love the design paper used on this card.  It was sent to me by a very sweet friend from the Netherlands.  The name of the paper pad by Craft & You, is "Lavender Garden".  I was so excited to receive this beautiful paper.  To give a little texture to the right side of the card, I used a score pad and created lines of varying sizes down from the top of the card.

The Lavender was created with the Garden Notes Lavender dies.  You can die cut and add as many little purple flowers as you wish.  As you can see, the set also includes a pretty bow.

To frame the Lavender, I used a die cut from Els van de Burgt Studio Fitted Frames 4 - Curvy Ovals.  It was glued to the design paper.  The Lavender was attached in the center of the oval using glue dots.  The edges of the design paper was sponged with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.

After completing the card, I felt like it was missing something.  I used Susan's Garden Notes Bugs & Butterflies die set to add three butterflies.  The highest butterfly on the right was  die cut twice and glued together to create two wings, which gives it dimension.  The Duck is one of the die cuts from Susan's CountryScapes Critters 5

Sometimes by taking a little extra time to add something else will help to make it look more complete.  Do you agree?

The dies used for this card can be purchased from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Bees at Work

ECD-DT-6-7-2016

This is the card I designed for my design team blog post at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I loved designing with card using Joset Designs Bee, Beehive, and Honeycomb die sets to create the background.  These Bees and their Beehive creates such a fun card!  Here is how to create this card:
  1.  Use the largest Dotted Scallop Square die, using Soft Finish White Cardstock, to create the background.
  2. Cut a Rich Black card stock square measuring 5 1/2" square. Attach the Dotted Scallop Square on top of black square, using dimensional tape.
  3.  Cut a square measuring 5 3/4" square.  Attach Black square to this white square using Dimensional Tape.
  4.  Die cut Beehive backing using Rust Cardstock and overlay using Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock.  Sponge overlay around edges using Really Rust Distress Ink.
  5. Die cut Honeycomb using Buttercream Soft Finish Cardstock.
  6. Die cut three sets of Curvy Leaves using White cardstock and sponge with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.
  7. Using Bee die set, die cut backing using Sunflower cardstock and overlay using Rich Black cardstock.
  8. Die cut the wings for bees using vellum card stock.  Use a white opaque marker to draw lines fanning out from pointed ends.  Use a glue pen to add glue over white lines and sprinkle with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  This gives the wings realism.
  9. Die cut three hearts using dies from the Bee die set, using Ladybug Red Cardstock.
  10. Die cut five white flowers using the Beehive die set.  Draw narrow lines, using a yellow thin line marker, out from center of flowers on each petal.  Attach a center of choice.  I had some wood, flat back beads in my stash, that I added to the flower centers.
  11. Using the  A Way With Words, 4-Seasons die set, die cut "Summer" using Rich Black Cardstock.
Assemble the card as shown.  The Beehive and Bees were attached with dimensional glue dots.  One addition I added to the card is a piece of yellow netting, that I saved from a bag of lemons.  I added glue to the back of the Honeycomb die cut and placed it on the netting.  The netting was trimmed around the edges of the honeycomb die cut.

This card is just slightly dimensional so will fit into a regular 6x6 inch envelope.

Jasmine

Jasmine flowers have an exotic, sweet fragrance that permeates the air on warm summer evenings.  You now can purchase Susan's Garden Notes Jasmine dies to create these beautiful flowers.

To create a pretty, delicate background for the Jasmine flowers, I used the Els van de Burgt Dotted Scallop Squares, Stitched Squares and Fitted Frames 2 Lace Squares.  The die cut squares were attached to a piece of yellow dotted design paper.

I die cut all the Garden Notes Jasmine pieces, using Soft Finish White Cardstock, and sponged the leaves with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. The die cut  flowers and leaves were shaped with Susan's Flower Tools and arranged as shown on the Jasmine packaging.

Two small butterflies from Susan's  Garden Notes Bugs and Butterflies die set were die cut using yellow card stock and sponged in orange ink.  The sentiment is from Karen Burniston's Cheeky Monkey Clear Stamp Set

Flower Garden

Hope you are having a nice weekend.  Today I want to show you a new die set I love.  I have designed this card using Susan's NEW  Garden Edges - Rose Hedge  dies.

In the background is a piece of Els van de Burgt Studio Through The Lens - Stone card stock. The window was die cut using Susan's Garden Notes Carolina Window & Shutters die set.  A piece of design paper, from my stash,  was used to create the window covering.

Using the  CountryScapes Nantucket Arbor & Picket Fence die set, three sections of fence were die cut.  The Garden Edges Rose Hedge was die cut using a light green card stock for the leaves.  The leaves were shaped using Susan's Flower Tool Kit, then shaded using PanPastels.  The roses were die cut using pink card stock.  These roses are very easy to assemble -- once die cut you just need to use the self closing tweezers from the Tool Kit to roll the die cut piece to form the rose.

The Picket fence was attached at the bottom of the design paper then the Rose Hedge attached in front.  Two Els van de Burgt Studio Leafy Branches were die cut and tucked in around the fence.  Susan's Garden Dogwood dies were used for the Dogwood tree on the right side of the card.

I Don't Tell You Often Enough

Have you seen all the beautiful new stamp sets from Quietfire Creations?  Here is a LINK to the new products that are now available.

Crackle Background - Mounted

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I cut a piece of light purple card stock 5 3/4 inches for the background. To give this piece some texture, I used Suzanne's new Crackle Background Stamp. I am excited to have this new background stamp and I am sure you will want to add it to your stamp collection too!

I used a piece of design paper from my stash and die cut it to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Dotted Scallop Rectangle dies.

I Don't Tell You Often Enough, Set of 5 - Mounted

For the Sentiment, I used one of the stamps from the "I Don't Tell You Often Enough" stamp set.  It was stamped on white card stock with black VersaFine Ink then die cut is one of the small Dotted Scallop rectangle dies.  Before removing it from the die, purple ink was sponged around the edges.  This piece was attached with dimensional tape at the bottom of the card.

For extra "glamour", a little glitter was added to flowers and chairs and a few flat back pearls added.
